The Advanced Manufacturing & Enterprise Engineering (AMEE) Department at Brunel is one of the first integrated innovative engineering disciplines in the UK . The department involved in 2008 RAE (research assessment exercise) Generation Engineering unit submission and 50% of the staff were rated internationally excellent and 100% achieved international standard (4*-2*). With around 100 postgraduate students from all around the World each year and substantial research income from the EU FP6/FP7 programs, research councils, UK Technology Strategy Board and the industry, AMEE department at Brunel is a major player in the field of advanced manufacturing and enterprise engineering.

The R&D activities led by Professor Kai Cheng and his team in the AMEE department at Brunel University are closely linked with high precision, robust CNC drive, actuation, positioning control, data acquisition and condition monitoring, etc, for various applications including:
