Observatory Sciences Limited specialises in the design, development and commissioning of control system software for large astronomical telescopes, synchrotron accelerators, beamlines and other large physics experiments.

Our consultants are highly skilled and motivated and we have a reputation for completing complex projects on time and to budget. In particular, we specialise in EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) and LabVIEW software systems. In many of our projects, we have successfully integrated these with Delta Tau motion controllers and gained considerable experience of commissioning low-level motion systems.
Our work with Delta Tau hardware goes back 10 years, when some of our consultants worked on or for the Gemini 8m Telescopes project. The Gemini mount control system, acquisition and guidance system and cassegrain rotator all use PMAC 2 VME cards to provide the servo control to their motors. We worked with staff at the Argonne National Laboratory, Chicago, to develop and test the PMAC VME device driver.
In the past year, we have worked closely with Delta Tau UK to integrate their GeoBrick LV controller with EPICS and, thus, provide the Diamond Light Source synchrotron with its next generation motor controller solution. This will be deployed on remaining Phase II beamlines and those to be built during Phase III.
We are recognised, within the EPICS community, for our training courses which we have given on numerous occasions to many projects worldwide.
